$130,000 in scholarships, grants awarded in 2016

The Western Colorado Community Foundation (WCCF) announced recent grant awards totaling $9,000 to nonprofits serving Delta County from its Western Colorado Community Fund. Grants from the community fund combined with funding from the foundation's donor-advised and scholarship funds totaled over $130,000 investment in Delta County by WCCF in 2016. In May, WCCF awarded over $100,000 in scholarships to Delta County students.
Community fund grants are recommended by WCCF's regional board of directors and are designed to tackle unmet needs, help programs expand, seed new projects and encourage collaboration to solve community problems. Delta is one of seven counties managed by WCCF that receives grants from its regional community fund. For 2016, the following grants were awarded in Delta County:
• A Kidz Clinic - Delta County School District, $2,000.
• A Little Help North Fork, $1,000.
• CASA of the 7th District, $1,000.
• Delta County Library, $1,000.
• Girl Scouts, Delta County, $1,000.
• Grand Mesa Nordic Council, $1,000.
• Mountain Harvest Creative, $1,000.
• Surface Creek Community Services, $1,000.

The Western Colorado Community Foundation serves seven counties in western Colorado, managing charitable funds for community good. Currently, the community foundation manages over 250 charitable funds totaling $55 million in assets and awards over $2 million in grants and scholarships annually.
