$175,000 sought for water fund

The Cedaredge Town Board, at its July 14 work session, is set to review a proposal to allocate by resolution an extra $175,000 for the town's water fund for 2016.

According to the proposed resolution, the extra $175,000 appropriated for the water fund would come from "loans, transfers, or water revenue bonds to be in place by Dec. 31."

The town has been in discussions and mediation with the Upper Surface Creek Domestic Water User's Association over USC's claim of 20 percent ownership in the town's water collection infrastructure and treatment plant.

USC is seeking payment for its 20 percent ownership share. The claim dates back to a previous agreement between the two water providers. Since that time, USC has built its own water treatment plant and no longer uses treated water supplied by the town on a regular basis.

The town board will not act on the proposed resolution at its July 14 work session, but is scheduled to "consider" it for adoption at its regular July 21 meeting.
