Thomas White died Friday, Sept. 23, 2016, at his home in Cedaredge. He was 73.
A memorial service with military honors will be held at a later date at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado in Grand Junction.
Thomas Patrick White was born in Colorado Springs Feb. 17, 1943. He was adopted by Alice Logan and raised on the Western Slope. He attended school in Crawford, Hotchkiss and Fruita.
When he was 17, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps.
After serving in the military, he married Lila Naomi Crabtree. They had three children. The marriage ended in divorce.
On March 14, 1979, he married Margaret Day in Lander, Wyo. They moved to Olathe in 1981 and to the farm in Cedaredge in 1983.
Mr. White enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking and drawing.
He is survived by his wife, Margie "Marge" White of Cedaredge; a son, Thomas "Tom" (Penny) White of Chariton, Iowa; a daughter, Patricia "Patty" (Jim Benson) White of Little Falls, Minn.; a sister, Rose Marie (Charles) Peden of Riverton, Wyo.; six biological grandchildren; and numerous other grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He helped raise over 17 children he considered his own.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Alice White; a son, Timothy White; three brothers; and two sisters.
