Caucuses set for March 16

A first step on the local level in the process towards choosing candidates to run for office in November will take place next week on Tuesday, March 16, in Delta County at local precinct party caucuses. The caucus process is where citizens on the precinct level meet and choose delegates to represent their precinct at the party’s county assembly later this year.

Longfield named new superintendent

A year after leaving Delta County to take a position as superintendent of schools in Manitou Springs, Ed Longfield is returning to lead the school district he has served in various capacities since 1991. In a press release issued Monday, school board president Bob Tweedell said the school board has negoiated an employment contract with Longfield which is expected to be ratified at the next school board meeting, March 18 in Crawford.

Rumors that Paonia High School homecoming traditions would end were allayed last week at a meeting hosted by school administration. The issue arose when parents reported that their children complained about being bullied.
