A Little Help of the North Fork Valley is holding its first Service Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Oct. 15.
A Little Help is a Denver-based nonprofit that connects elderly citizens with services and resources that can allow them to remain at home for a longer period of time. A Little Help NFV is a rural effort to serve elders in this area. Volunteers can meet at the Apple Valley Park Pavilion, 45 Pan American Avenue, in Paonia. From there they will be dispersed to the homes of local ALH members throughout the area to help with chores including weeding, raking of leaves, window washing and dusting.
The event gives volunteers an opportunity to see what ALH is about and to help elderly community members with tasks.
RSVPs are greatly appreciated to facilitate in planning. To RSVP or to learn more about ALH, call the office at 527-3482, or Randy at 260-0106.
The seventh annual Eckert Crane Days, the annual viewing of the sandhill cranes migrating north from New Mexico through Colorado's West Slope, will be March 16-18. Representatives from the Black Canyon Chapter of the Audubon Society (BCAS) will be at the viewing site east of Eckert at Fruitgrowers Reservoir, 9 to 11 a.m. each day, to answer questions and provide binoculars and spotting scopes.
