There was a great turnout for the Ice Cream Social that was held Saturday, July 25, at Pioneer Town in Cedaredge. Estimates of the number of participants to the annual fundraising event was between 280 and 300. The parking lot was full at times, with overflow parking along the side street. There was also an increased number of visitors touring Pioneer Town and shopping in the gift shop.

Pies and other baked goods, along with ample root beer floats came out close to even with everyone served.

This was the first year for the pie contest. Pies were judged by appearance, taste and the crust. Winners were: first - Judy Greear with her lemon chiffon pie; a tie for second place was between Jeanne Loucks' rhubarb pie and Carolyn Ander-sen's gooseberry pie. Third place was awarded to Mary Lou Albert for her apple pie.

Judges having the privilege of tasting each and every entry were Nick Greear, Walt Fick and Doug McCully. Prizes will be selected from items at the Welcome Center's gift shop.

Thanks to the many volunteers who willingly gave of their time, efforts and talents. This proved to be another successful fun/fundraiser.
