Albert P. Martinez of Olathe died at his home March 13, 2016. He was 88.
He was born in Villa Grove June 27, 1927, to Patrick and Helen (Chacon) Martinez. He grew up and attended school in Villa Grove. When he was 18, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
He married Virginia Maestas April 21, 1952.
Mr. Martinez worked as a truck driver and farmed for many years.
He was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses in Delta.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping with family and friends, and being a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather.
Mr. Martinez is survived by his wife of 63 years, Virginia Martinez of Olathe; his sons, Richard Martinez and Dwayne (Susan) Martinez, all of Olathe; his daughters, Diana (Sam) Miller of Montrose, Alberta (Dave) Howard, Julie (Roy) Casias, all of Yuma, Ariz., Linda (Ron) Granzella of Goodyear, Ariz., and Geraldine (Ken) Wrich of Delta; his brothers, Leonard, Pete and Ernie; his sisters, Belice, Beth and Vicki; 28 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by eight siblings; an infant daughter; and three grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Saturday, March 19, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Delta.

At about 9:50 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, officers of the Delta Police Department were dispatched to a robbery reported at Arby's, located at 107 Gunnison River Drive. An extensive search of the area was conducted and the suspect was not located.
The suspect was reported to have walked into Arby's and after a brief conversation with an employee, was able to leave the store with a small amount of cash and coins.
