Former Delta resident Alberta Sage died Thursday, Aug. 13, 2015, at her home in Longmont. She was 93.
Alberta Marie Curtin was born in Bear Creek Township, Ill., March 25, 1922, to Henry and Helena (Spresser) Curtin. She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1940 and St. John's School of Nursing in 1943. She enlisted in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps in 1944.
She married Clinton Sage on Sept. 15, 1947. They lived in Taylorville, Ill., before moving to Colorado in 1961. They lived in Colorado Springs, Wheat Ridge, Delta and Grand Junction. Mrs. Sage moved to Longmont after Clinton's death in 2008.
Mrs. Sage practiced nursing in various areas including private duty, maternity and emergency room.
She enjoyed sewing, gardening, farming with her husband, and canning and freezing their produce.
Mrs. Sage is survived by her sisters, Doris Castagno and Sister Bernice O.P. (Martha Curtin); sons, Steve of Alamosa and Clifton of Medford, Ore.; daughter, Janet of Longmont; grandchildren, Christina (Steven) Dean of Frederick and Michael Fresquez of Fort Collins; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clinton; brothers, Robert, Jim and Bruce; and a grandson, Jason Fresquez.
A memorial service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, in the chapel of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 323 Collyer Street, Longmont. Interment arrangements are pending.
