Alma Hintz

Alma Jean (Flaiz) Hintz lost her battle with cancer at the Hospice Care Center in Grand Junction on Oct. 2, 2017.

She was born in Delta Dec. 11, 1939, to Rollie and Nancy (Harris) Flaiz. She grew up on the family farm with two siblings and her identical twin, Thelma.

On July 22, 1969, she married Ronald Hintz of Elgin, N.D. They owned Little Loggers with their daughter, LeaAnn and husband Robert. Mrs. Hintz looked forward to spending summers in the mountains. She enjoyed horses and riding with her daughter and granddaughters, touring the countryside with her husband and watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports and compete in rodeos.

Mrs. Hintz opened the first Mode-O-Day store in Delta in the late 1970s. Later she worked at Colorow Care Center for 16 years until retirement.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Ron; daughter, LeeAnn (Robert) Dickerson; brother, Bill Flaiz of Fortuna, Calif.; sister, Patsy Lange of Urdah, Utah; granddaughters, Heather (George) Bayles and Angel (Jack) Sharpe; grandchildren, Alyssa and Aylin Bayles and Kaitlyn and Rowdy Sharpe.

She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Thelma Pettis; brother-in-law, Eldon Pettis; and a nephew.

Services will be held Saturday, Oct. 14, at 2 p.m. at Bible Baptist Church in Olathe. Interment will follow at the Olathe Cemetery.
