Delta County adults who are seeking higher or continuing education are invited to apply for a $1,000 scholarship, offered by Altrusa International of Delta. The service organization annually awards several scholarships to non-traditional students.
The deadline for applications is April 17. The applicant must reside in Delta County and must have been out of high school at least five years. Scholarship monies must be used for the summer or fall terms of 2017.
Applicants will be notified by April 30 if they have received a scholarship, and the scholarship will be awarded in May. Proof of enrollment must be submitted to Altrusa prior to funds being released. The funds will be sent directly to the student.
Altrusa will also award $500 scholarships to members of Delta County ASTRA clubs at Delta and Cedaredge high schools who demonstrate excellent service to the community, academic promise, and plan to attend a college, university, trade school or online school this year.
More information, qualification guidelines and applications are online at www.AltrusaInternationalOfDelta.com; please note that only digital applications will be accepted. For more information, call Altrusan Kami Collins at 970-361-8905.
Funds for the scholarships are raised in part from the club's annual events, the Deltarado Days kickoff dinner at Cleland Park and the Sugar Plum Festival & Little Side Street Market in the fall.
