Amber Jenkins has been named Orchard City's student of the month for October.
During presentation of the honor at the trustee's Oct. 14 meeting, Mayor Don Suppes noted that Amber, a senior at Cedaredge High School, has a 4.05 grade point average and is a member of National Honor Society.
She is a member of a 4x100 relay state championship track team, is on the student council, has been a Lions Club outstanding student, and volunteers for numerous community projects. Amber says she intends to be a physician.
She is the daughter of Brenda Jenkins of Eckert, and of Shannon Jenkins.
At about 9:50 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, officers of the Delta Police Department were dispatched to a robbery reported at Arby's, located at 107 Gunnison River Drive. An extensive search of the area was conducted and the suspect was not located.
The suspect was reported to have walked into Arby's and after a brief conversation with an employee, was able to leave the store with a small amount of cash and coins.
