Andrew James Carr died of cardiac arrest Nov. 6, 2017, at his home in Clifton. He was 54.
He was born in Chicago, Ill., on Sept. 26, 1963, to James and Jerri Carr. He came to Delta in 1972 and spent his childhood on a farm on California Mesa near Roubideau Canyon. He graduated from Delta High School in 1982.
He was a master craftsman and operated his own business as a drywall contractor. He worked in the energy field for 10 years.
He enjoyed being outdoors, camping, hiking and laughing with his family and friends.
He married Lisa Carr in January 2011; the marriage ended in divorce.
He is survived by his father, James M. Carr of Delta; brothers, Michael and Jonathan of Grand Junction; a sister, Suzanne of Hattiesburg, Miss.; a stepsister, Doreen Haines of Lexington, S.C.; stepbrothers, Michael Haines of Paola, Kan., Andrew Haines of Lexington, S.C.; and Jeffrey Haines of Clifton.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Jerri Carr; and stepmother, Rita Haines Carr.
A celebration of life service will be held at the Center for Spiritual Life, 658 Howard Street, Delta, at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21.
On Tuesday, Sept. 11, the Delta County Board of Commissioners called a special meeting to consider the board's response to the Bureau of Land Management's preliminary Environmental Assessment (EA) concerning the lease parcels proposed for the December BLM sale.
Several people from the North Fork were present to provide input.
