Anna Marie "Sam" O'Brien of Paonia died April 1, 2017, at Colorow Care Center in Olathe. She was 75.
At her request, no services will be held at this time.
Anna Marie Schwind was born June 29, 1941, to Walter and Emma (Tauber) Schwind in Allentown, Pa. She spent her childhood in Allentown and Bethlehem. She graduated from Allentown Central Catholic High School in 1959 and attended Holy Family College in Philadelphia.
On June 15, 1963, she married James O'Brien in Allentown, Pa.
Mrs. O'Brien was a retired preschool teacher. She and her husband moved to Paonia eight years ago from Southport, N.C.
She was raised in the Catholic faith and enjoyed traveling and spending time with family.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, James O'Brien of Paonia; two sons, James (Kirsten) O'Brien III of Raleigh, N.C., and Todd (Laila) O'Brien of Portland, Ore.; a daughter, Tara (Sam) Cox of Paonia; a sister, Rosalie (Tom Baer) Summerill of Steamboat Springs; and seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
