Photo by Hank Lohmeyer It's all about the apples, and there were plenty of them for AppleFest 2016.

With ideal autumn weather arriving right on cue, AppleFest 2016 racked up a two-day run that brought success to every event, to every enterprise and to everyone involved.

The Cedaredge Area Chamber of Commerce-sponsored event brought lots of customers to local businesses. Vendors set up along Main Street and around Town Park did brisk business. And local organizations raised funds that will benefit the community throughout the coming year.

Several local orchards sold apples in the park and various activities from the chili cookoff to the Pioneer Town auto show were big hits with local supporters and visitors from all over.

The FFA pancake breakfast did good business on Saturday and Sunday, and Town Park was filled with visitors relaxing, enjoying the food, and listening to two days of free musical entertainment provided by local musical talent and by professional entertainers from Texas to Los Angeles.

Chamber president Nancy Hovde noted the two most important highlights of any outdoor festival -- the weather and the crowds -- cooperated all weekend to help create a successful community event.

Hovde gave credit for a successful event to the hard work of chamber staff and this year's AppleFest committee. The group was mentored by Eileen Liles who brought her experience from helping organize past successful AppleFests to this year's edition as well, with equally successful results.

Other members who served on the AppleFest committee as listed by chamber officials were Larry Murphy, Cindy and David Starr, Dottie Whitlock, Cindy Wolf and John Whitney.

The DCI's coverage this week of AppleFest 2016 includes a few highlights of the many fun and interesting events and activities that took place during the various activities.
