Appointments, OHVs and H92 access plan discussed

The county commissioners named members to volunteer boards and commissions at their Feb. 21 regular meeting.
Named to serve on the Youth Shooting Sports Advisory Committee for were Marci Germann and Terry Welt. They join continuing members George Baier, Jerry Read and Kathy Welt.
The Youth Shooting Sports Advisory Committee can have up to nine members representing specific areas of the county along with at-large members. Terms are for three years.
Commissioners named Tina Carney to serve on the Paonia Cemetery Board. She joins continuing members Don Emmons and David Hurr. Appointments to cemetery board posts are for six years.
Commissioners named Joe Ogelsby to serve another term on the Crawford Cemetery Board. He serves with continuing members Hetty Todd and Charlotte Lubin.
Commissioners named George Bacon to serve on the Cedaredge Cemetery Board filling an opening created by the retirement of long-serving board member Mike Street. Continuing members are Kristen Green and Leroy Black.
Leigh Ann Hunt was renamed to a term on the Eckert Cemetery Board. She serves with members Bob Eckels and Bobbie Jones.
Commissioners named Dennis Green to the Hotchkiss Cemetery Board.
In other recent business, the county commissioners have had discussions on the following upcoming issues:
• The county is readying an ordinance that would allow and regulate the use of off-highway vehicles on county roads. Public input will be sought at BoCC regular meetings after the proposed ordinance is introduced, at user group meetings, and from public lands agencies.
• An access control plan for Highway 92 across Rogers Mesa is nearing the public information stage. Commissioners said they will discuss the plan at their March 6 regular meeting. Also, there will be other meetings including a public session at Hotchkiss High School tentatively scheduled for April 4.
