Tracy Brown wins title

This year's 2017 Devil's Thumb Ladies Club champion is Tracy Brown. Brown's two-day total of 188 proved to be the tournament's top gross score, with a round of 95 coming on the first day and a 93 coming on the final day (Sunday, Aug. 13).

Jinx Richards was the top net winner in First Flight play with scores of 68 and 72 for a two-day total of 140.

A fossil uncovered near Cedaredge four decades ago is now on display in a museum on the campus of Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.

While the full mosasaur skeleton is new to the BYU Museum of Paleontology, a cast of the skull has been showcased at the Welcome Center in Cedaredge for years.

Paonia Dam repairs slated for this fall

About 60 individuals attended an Aug. 15 public presentation by the Bureau of Reclamation to address ongoing efforts to minimize water storage loss at Paonia Reservoir. Attendees represented water companies, water users, commercial and recreational users, neighboring landowners, environmental organizations and other interested parties.
