The ambassadors team of the Cedaredge Area Chamber of Commerce is excited to present the next First Friday Art Walk on Friday, July 7, from 4 p.m. - dusk. First Friday Art Walk is a self-guided monthly art walk hosted throughout Main Street at multiple venues and extends south to the AppleShed. Each month on the first Friday, participating venues offer free activities involving local artists, musicians, food and drink.
"The goal of First Friday Art Walk is to showcase local talent while supporting local businesses in the Main Street area," explained Trey Groenthal of Reve Portraits, a chamber ambassador and one of the organizers of the event.
Participating businesses will host an artist or crafter at their location. Artists will work right on the street, from painters to quilters and everything in between, showcasing their craft and process. This is a great opportunity for the whole family to see artists at work. A wide range of displayed art and performance art will be showcased, including live music, live painting, spoken word, kids' crafts (sponsored this month by Bank of Colorado), sidewalk chalk murals, food tastings, wine tastings and more.
If you are an artist who would like to participate, please call the Cedaredge Area Chamber of Commerce at 856-6961 to learn more or to sign up. There is no fee for artists to participate. Businesses looking to host an artist may also call the chamber to be paired up, or feel free to host your own.
You will find photos and more on Facebook at FFAWCedaredge, or on other social media outlets using the hashtag #FirstFridaysCedaredge. First Friday Art Walks are the first Friday of each month through September; the next event will be Aug. 4.
On Tuesday, Sept. 11, the Delta County Board of Commissioners called a special meeting to consider the board's response to the Bureau of Land Management's preliminary Environmental Assessment (EA) concerning the lease parcels proposed for the December BLM sale.
Several people from the North Fork were present to provide input.
