Bernard Marvin Coverly died Saturday, May 7, 2016, at a Delta care facility. He was 90.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, May 19, at Garnet Mesa Baptist Church, 846 A Street, Delta, with Rev. Jerry Hilterbrand officiating. Interment will be at Lake Forest Cemetery in Grand Haven, Mich.
Mr. Coverly was born in Muskegon, Mich., Oct. 20, 1925, to Cecil and Gladys Coverly.
He married Thelma Moon on June 18, 1948. They moved to Delta in 1989 after his retirement from Consumers Power Company.
He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army from 1944-1946 in the engineer brigade in Europe.
Mr. Coverly was a member of Garnet Mesa Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher and youth group leader. He was formerly a member of Lakeshore Baptist Church in Grand Haven, Mich.
He enjoyed his ranch at Pea Green Corner, woodworking, gardening, making grandfather clocks, studying his Bible and going to the C&J Café coffee group.
Mr. Coverly is survived by his son, Stephen (Cheryl) Coverly of Grand Junction; a daughter, Sharon (Ron) Hughes of Los Angeles, Calif.; his grandchildren, Major Robinson (Jenifer) Hughes of Virginia, Bethany Coverly of Grand Junction, Heather (Luke) Carrington of Indiana; his great-grandchildren, Abigail and Robinson Hughes; a sister, Shirley Eppink of Fremont, Mich.; and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Thelma; and a daughter, Linda.

At about 9:50 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, officers of the Delta Police Department were dispatched to a robbery reported at Arby's, located at 107 Gunnison River Drive. An extensive search of the area was conducted and the suspect was not located.
The suspect was reported to have walked into Arby's and after a brief conversation with an employee, was able to leave the store with a small amount of cash and coins.
