Bert Latta

Roberta "Bert" Latta died July 9, 2016, at her home in Delta. She was 80.

She was born in Holyoke June 13, 1936, to Glenn and Rosella Shrader. By her first birthday, Bert and her family had moved to Delta where her parents were farmers.

She married Bill Latta on April 3, 1955. They settled in Naturita where they owned a successful tire business. They enjoyed hunting, fishing, skiing, bowling, playing softball in their younger years, and later playing golf and traveling.

After raising her two children, Mrs. Latta was the town librarian in Naturita. Later she became a real estate agent and real estate broker.

The Lattas moved back to Delta in 2003, and Mrs. Latta cared for her husband through an extended battle with Parkinson's Disease. He died in 2011.

After his death, Mrs. Latta kept busy with her friends, bowling, golfing and visiting her family in Arizona. At the age of 79, she became a volunteer at Delta County Memorial Hospital.

She enjoyed the simple things in life, was a natural tomboy and loved to play sports. She was a hard worker.

She is survived by two children, Janis McMillan of Queen Creek, Ariz., and Micheal Latta; three grandchildren, Hannah Smith, Caleb McMillan and Grace McMillan; and a great-grandson, Ezra William Smith.

A memorial service is planned Saturday, July 23, at 2 p.m. at the Delta Christian Church. Interment will be next to Bill in the Delta City Cemetery.
