Cedaredge resident Bessie Stepp died Friday, July 17, 2015, at Horizons Care Center in Eckert. She was 88.
Visitation and viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, July 24, at Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Cedaredge. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 25, at New Hope Evangelical Free Church in Cedaredge with Pastor Bill Williamson officiating. Interment will follow at Cedaredge Cemetery.
Bessie L. Cook was born in Logan County, W.Va., April 9, 1927, to Simon and Haney (Napier) Cook. She spent her childhood and attended school in the Logan County, W.Va., area.
She married Robert Stepp Dec. 26, 1940, in Inez, Ky.
Mrs. Stepp enjoyed her family and home, her poodles, dog grooming and breeding, her church involvement and winning people to the Lord.
She lived in Denver before moving to Cedaredge in 1977. She attended New Hope Evangelical Free Church in Cedaredge and was active in the Cedaredge community.
She is survived by a son, Dallas Stepp; a daughter, Judi (Phil) Arona, all of Cedaredge; a sister, Maxine Whala of Denver; eight grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren with one on the way.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, in November 2014; a daughter, Donna Collins; a brother, Eugene Cook; and a sister, Katherine Hartley.

On Dec. 4 Delta County Commissioners Doug Atchley, Mark Roeber and Don Suppes denied the application of Paonia Holdings, LLC for a change of land use for the property at 41322 Highway 133, with an adjacent residence at 41402 Highway 133 and an ancillary property at 16180 Stevens Gulch Road.
The property is owned by Bowie Resources, LLC, and was formerly used as a coal load-out site.
