Lifetime Delta County resident Betty J. Harris died Thursday, Sept. 10, 2015, at her home in Hotchkiss. She was 74.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 19, at First Assembly of God in Delta with Pastor Jason Neely officiating.
Mrs. Harris was born in Lazear July 21, 1941, to Elmer and Mary (Halbrooks) Soules. She graduated from Delta High School. She lived in Hotchkiss for the past 48 years.
She was a former member of the Hotchkiss Elks Lodge. She enjoyed crocheting, needlepoint, baking, reading, camping and her family, especially her grandchildren.
Mrs. Harris is survived by her husband, Jim Harris of Hotchkiss; three children, Roberta (Daniel) Clough of Delta, Rodney (Sonia) Hodson of Chapel Hill, N.C., and Rhonda Hodson of Grand Junction; a brother, Edward (Lois) Soules of Texas; three sisters, Martha (Sherman) Metcalf, Marilyn (Terris) McCombs and Beulah (Kenny) Hines, all of Delta; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren with one on the way.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Reba Wylie.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.

On Dec. 4 Delta County Commissioners Doug Atchley, Mark Roeber and Don Suppes denied the application of Paonia Holdings, LLC for a change of land use for the property at 41322 Highway 133, with an adjacent residence at 41402 Highway 133 and an ancillary property at 16180 Stevens Gulch Road.
The property is owned by Bowie Resources, LLC, and was formerly used as a coal load-out site.
