Billie Marguerite Combs Engberg of Delta departed life to be with her God and dearly departed loved ones on Oct. 28, 2016. Billie was loved by all and a woman with great strength, love and kindness. She will be dearly missed. She was born in Norwood, Colo., on Nov. 9, 1933. The daughter of Estella O. (Major) Combs and Charles M. Combs, she grew up in Norwood and married William Melanson, with whom she had children: Mona, Monte, Glenda and Dean. She later married Donald Engberg on Nov. 13, 1973, her husband of 43 years and partner in life.
Billie is survived by her husband Don and children: Mona (Sam) Palmer, Monte (Lee Ann Loupe) Melanson, and Glenda (Jim Brightman) Melanson, Doug (Margo) Engberg, and Ericka Engberg; her grandchildren: Lisa (David) Searcy, Mark Palmer, Paul Mullen, Mason Mullen, Jessica (Jacob) Jordan, and Gabe, Tycee, Jazzy, Mia Engberg; great-grandchildren Samona Searcy, Trissa Searcy and Jemma Jordan. She was preceded in death by her son Kenneth (Dean) Melanson, her parents and siblings with whom she has been reunited.
Her family wishes to thank the staff at Willow Tree Care Center and Hospice for the loving care and comfort they provided to Billie and family during her stay with them. No services or memorials are planned.
On Tuesday, Sept. 11, the Delta County Board of Commissioners called a special meeting to consider the board's response to the Bureau of Land Management's preliminary Environmental Assessment (EA) concerning the lease parcels proposed for the December BLM sale.
Several people from the North Fork were present to provide input.
