Bob Cockroft

Bob Cockroft died Oct. 4, 2017, at his cabin on Upper Surface Creek on Grand Mesa. He was 87.

A celebration of life will be held at the Cockroft cabin in early summer 2018.

Mr. Cockroft was born Oct. 25, 1929, to Myrtle and Robert Cockroft. His family moved from Agra, Kan., in the late 1930s. When he was 12 they moved to their farm in California Mesa.

Mr. Cockroft was a farmer and rancher for 56 years. He enjoyed cattle, boating at Lake Powell, traveling in Alaska, and riding his four-wheeler on Grand Mesa and Marysvale, Utah.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Theo Schlangen Cockroft; three daughters, Joyce Cockroft of Delta, Deb (Anne) Cockroft of Grand Junction and Lisa Bryce of Austin; three granddaughters, Jaime (Jordan) White of Brighton, Jenni (Victor) Sifuentes of Fort Collins and Victoria (James) Westergren of Delta; one grandson, Cody (Ashley) of Delta; six great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Neil Schlangen; and two nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Scharon Schlangen; and his favorite uncle and aunt, Paul and Mary Snow.

Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory is handling the arrangements.
