The Board of County Commissioners on Monday, July 17, engaged an attorney specializing in work that will involve the county's interests in negotiations with the Delta Urban Renewal Authority.
In other business on July 17, Region 10 director Michelle Haynes reported that the broadband middle mile system is now providing service to carrier neutral locations in the cities of Delta and Montrose. The service is being established with independent internet service providers (ISPs) and anchor institutions.
A July 25 ribbon cutting has been set in Delta. Haynes said the system will continue to add regional connectives and new users. Also, Montrose County has decided to become a participant in the enterprise, a decision that will bring fast internet to Montrose County's West End.
On Dec. 4 Delta County Commissioners Doug Atchley, Mark Roeber and Don Suppes denied the application of Paonia Holdings, LLC for a change of land use for the property at 41322 Highway 133, with an adjacent residence at 41402 Highway 133 and an ancillary property at 16180 Stevens Gulch Road.
The property is owned by Bowie Resources, LLC, and was formerly used as a coal load-out site.
