Eckert resident Bruce Otto Barker died Sunday, Nov. 22, 2015, in Delta. He was 26.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, Dec. 1, at Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Delta with James Gall and Laura Gartner officiating.
Mr. Barker was born in Salem, Ore., Dec. 20, 1988, to Duane Barker and Florence Carr. He spent his childhood in Salem, Ore., Butte, Mont., and Eckert. He graduated from Cedaredge High School in 2008. In 2007 and 2008 he participated in the state track meet. He specialized in the 300-yard hurdles.
He enjoyed his dogs, riding his Harley motorcycle, playing in the mud and spending time with his nieces and nephews.
Mr. Barker is survived by his parents, Marie and Joel Torstveit of Eckert; his fiancée, Kristen McCarty of Cedaredge; six brothers, William Barker and Mike (Laura) Gartner, all of Cedaredge, Daniel Norris of Butte, Mont., Joey Torstveit of Paonia, Ben Torstveit of Grand Junction and Jesse Torstveit of Cortez; six sisters, Deanne Yniguez of Olathe, Melessa Norris of Portland, Ore., Danna Elderman of Oregon, Kimberley Hicks of Fort Collins, Autumn Owens of Clifton and Veronica Pozuelos of Andrews Air Force Base, Md.; and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Duane Barker.
Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory handled the arrangements.
