Cedaredge's Ty Grant and Drew Markley were first place winners at last Saturday's Hotchkiss Invitational track meet.
Junior Ty Grant crossed the finish line with a time of 23.47 to win the 200m dash last Saturday helping the Bruins place second in a field of 17 teams.
Drew Markley, a junior at Cedaredge High School, also scored 10 points for the Bruins with his 43.02 clocking in the 300m hurdles. Danny Mendoza was fifth for the Bruins in the 300 hurdles and third in the 110 high hurdles.
Numerous Cedaredge athletes turned in superb performances to place second on Saturday.
Those second place winners included Brendon Klaseen (800m run - 2:07.53), the 4x800 meter relay team - 8:40.01, the 800 meter sprint medley team (Wyatt Camp, Sawyer Carey, Tevin Keller and Keaton Sheppard - 1:46.43), Isaac Swoffer (long jump - 20') and Xander Purcell (shot put - 43' 5").
Purcell had a sixth place finish in discus competition.
Other third place winners included Danny Mendoza (110 high hurdles - 17.0) and Austin Meyers (shot put - 40' 4.5").
Grant had fourth place finishes in both the 400m dash and long jump competitions for the Bruins.
Earning sixth-place points for the Bruins were Wyatt Camp (100m dash) and the 400 and 1600 meter relay teams. Members of the 400 meter relay team include Carey, Ryan Imhoff, Jordan McMillan and Mendoza. The 1600 meter relay team members were Carey, Josh Jenkins, Andrew Richardson and Isaac Valdez.
Zak Morgan had an eighth-place finish in the 110 meter high hurdles race.
Delta Volunteer Fire Department (DVFD) will be holding its annual fireworks show at Confluence Park on Wednesday, July 4, having received approval from Delta City Council at the council's June 5 meeting.
The DVFD has 28 volunteers and expects to have eight to 10 firefighters from Cedaredge join them this year.
