Cedaredge's boys finished the regular season with a solid win over Caprock Academy last Saturday in Cedaredge. The Bruins held the Eagles to single digits in the first and fourth quarters on their way to a 69-36 victory in District 5 play.

A 21-3 first quarter grounded the Eagles, allowing Cedaredge to gain a 37-17 lead at halftime after a 16-14 second quarter.

Caprock scored just 11 points in the third quarter while the Bruins' offense tossed in 19 points.

Cedaredge gained five points in the final period to win by a final score of 69-36.

Tyler Cooper had a great offensive outing for the Bruins with 22 points, including four 3-point goals. Christian Reynolds was good for 15 points and Peter Carlson had 10.

Nico Bentley tallied 12 points for the Eagles.

The Bruins were scheduled to face West Grand (10-7 and 4-4) on Tuesday of this week with the winner advancing to semifinal and championship play Feb. 26 and 27 in De Beque.

Cedaredge (12-7 and 9-3) finished fourth in the 2A District 5 WSL. Paonia (12-0 and 18-1) rests atop the league standings with Soroco (15-4 and 9-1) second and Vail Christian (14-5 and 9-1) third.

Paonia is the No. 1 seed and played the winner of Monday's play-in game between Meeker (12-7 and 5-7) and Hayden (0-16 and 0-12) on Tuesday night in Paonia.

Vail Christian, as the No. 2 seed, also played on Tuesday night against either Vail Mountain (9-1 and 5-0) or Rangely (10-8 and 7-5).

Hotchkiss (8-11 and 7-5) faced Soroco (15-4 and 9-1) on Tuesday in Oak Creek. That winner also advanced to this weekend's tournament action in De Beque.
