Bruins beat mat competitors

The Cedaredge Bruins picked up a team title at last weekend's Butch Melton Wrestling Tournament hosted by Ignacio. Cedaredge won the title with 205 points with second-place Pagosa Springs scoring 164.5 points.
The Bruins earned top points for five first-place finishes and scored high with three runner-up spots.
Cedaredge also had a pair of third-place finishes.
First-place finishers for the Bruins included Blake Nation (120) by decision, Jake Ostrom (126) by decision, Zach Anderson by pin (170), Tre' LaBossiere by decision (195) and Anthony Antuna (220) by decision.
The runner-up spots went to Colton Hoerr (138), Landon Eckhart (182) and Mario Madaleno (285). Madaleno met teammate Taj VanDerLee in second-round action and won by pinfall, sending him to the losers' bracket. VanDerLee placed third at 285.
Drew Markley also placed third in the 160-pound division.
Alex McCracken (113), Wyatt Hamilton (132) and Tristan Waddell (152) had fourth-place finishes for Cedaredge.
Other top 10 finishes for the Bruins included David Schipman (145), Dakota Nequette (126), Tory Wilson (170), Wade Barnard (126), Austin Crawford (138) and Toby Waddell (160).
The Bruins are slated for their next mat competition on Feb. 5 at Meeker beginning at 6 p.m.
