Bruins bow out of 2A state baseball playoffs

Cedaredge High School's baseball team held out hopes of moving deeper into this year's 2A post-season play after earning a play-in game victory over Rangely's Panthers on May 10.
The Bruins were unable to advance any further when Ignacio dealt Cedaredge a 7-3 loss in 2A District 2 play in Cortez on May 13.
Against Rangely, the Bruins scored runs in the first three innings to lead 3-1 heading to the fourth inning.
The Panthers tacked on a run in the top half of the fourth but lost more ground when Cedaredge countered with three more runs of its own in the bottom half of the inning.
Rangely closed out its scoring with one more run in the seventh and the Bruins put a final run on the scoreboard in the bottom of the sixth.
Tre' Labossiere had two hits and four RBIs to lead Cedaredge's offense. Chris Lindley was another two-hit player who had a home run and an RBI. Tristan Waddell scored twice, had a double and knocked in a run for the Bruins while Garrett Meyers scored twice, had a double and was credited with an RBI.
Rangely's Harrison Heil had three hits for the losers.
Jacob Lewis was the winning pitcher and had five innings of work with nine hits and two runs given up. He struck out five Rangely batters. Lindley picked up two innings of work in relief, giving up one hit, one run and striking out four.
Against Ignacio, the Bruins were unable to keep up with the Bobcats in a 7-3 loss.
The Bruins finished the season with a 3-5 league mark and had a record of 12-8 overall.
