Cedaredge attended the Montrose Invitational track meet last Friday. The Bruins' boys scored 91.5 points and recorded three first place finishes on their way to a second place finish.
Cedaredge's girls scored 27 points in the 16-team field and finished ninth.
Brendon Klaseen recorded the only individual first place for the Bruins on Friday. Klaseen circled the oval two times to record a 2:01.4 ahead of Montrose's Evan Graff (2:04.47). Klaseen's top performance for the 800m run is 2:00.36.
The Bruins' 4x400 relay team (Ty Grant, Drew Markley, Jordan McMillan and Brendon Klaseen) outran Montrose (3:35.38) to earn the top finish.
Cedaredge's 800 sprint medley relay team also scored first-place points with its time of 1:39.20.
The number of second and third place finishes were also limited for the Bruins. Drew Markley placed second in the 110 high hurdles (41.46) with Danny Mendoza finishing fourth (42.22 and a new PR).
Wyatt Camp also placed third (100m - 11.63 and a new PR), and Isaac Swoffer went 19-7.75 for third in long jump for the Bruin boys.
Finishing fourth for Cedaredge's boys were Patrick Walker in discus (126-1), Xander Purcell in shot put (44-7) and the 4x800 relay team (8:50.48).
Purcell was fifth in discus (125-3) and Zach Kettelsen placed sixth in triple jump (39-0.75).
Picking up seventh-place points for the Bruins were Josh Jenkins (triple jump), Austin Meyers (shot put) and Camp in the 200m dash.
An eighth place finish was earned by the Bruins' 4x200 relay team.
Katie Hyke's second place finish in shot put was Cedaredge's top finish for the girls track team. Her throw of 35-10 was the closest throw made by all competitors to event winner Lily Lockhart's 40-11.75. Teammate Grace Andrews placed fifth in shot put with her toss of 32-7.
Other fifth place finishers included the 4x800 relay team (10:57.04) and Hyke's 103-5 in discus competition.
Emily Tullis was sixth in the 100m hurdles and Darrian Bulbulian was sixth in long jump.
The Bruins' 4x100 relay team finished eighth in Montrose.
