Paonia defeated Cedaredge 6-1 in tennis action last week, Tuesday (March 21). The Bruins did not go easily, despite the difference in set wins. The Eagles were winners in singles 1 and 2 play with scores of 6-2 and 6-2 at 1S.
A second win at 2S for the Eagles was a 6-1, 6-1 decision.
Sarah Tullis put up a good battle in 3S action eventually falling 5-7 and 5-7.
Cedaredge's Addison Schwarz and Sabrina Gilmore lost a 3-6, 4-6 decision to Paonia in one doubles play.
The 2D team from Cedaredge, Olivia McCrackin and Caitlyn Bowen lost its match (3-6 and 0-6) to the Eagles and Megan Branson and Payton Donahue played well before falling 6-6 (5-7) and 4-6.
Cedaredge's one victory came in the 4D match where Niala Stair and Daizy McCarty won in straight sets 6-4 and 6-4.
Results from the Cedaredge/Montezuma Cortez match, played March 25, were not available. The Bruins own a record of 0-4 overall and 0-3 in 3A Regional 8 standings.
The Bruins faced Delta on Monday, March 27, and are scheduled to host Grand Junction Central on Thursday, March 30 in Delta (Bill Heddles Rec Center) at 4 p.m.
On Tuesday, Sept. 11, the Delta County Board of Commissioners called a special meeting to consider the board's response to the Bureau of Land Management's preliminary Environmental Assessment (EA) concerning the lease parcels proposed for the December BLM sale.
