There were 11 varsity golf teams playing for medalist and team honors last Thursday (Aug. 10) at Cedaredge Golf Club. There was plenty of sunshine and temperatures were conducive to excellent conditions for the Bruins and visiting linksters hoping to finish the day with the top scores of the day.

Aspen's Skiers, following a recount of scorecard numbers, emerged the tournament's winners with a 244. Cedaredge's Bruins were initially tabbed the winners (246) but the recount proved otherwise.

Cedaredge's Peter Carlson used 79 strokes to finish his 18 holes of golf and earned third place in the medalist chase. Duncan Campbell had an 82 with Jacob Lewis' 85 rounding out the team's top three scoring figures. Nate Stumpf (91) and Tristan Campbell (128) completed the five-man team's scoring for the Bruins.

Aspen team title (244) had more accolades with the tournament's second best scorer of the day with Dom Lanese shooting a 76 to finish second in the medalist race.

Eagle Valley's Barrett Jones fired a tournament best 69 to top all competitors who played. The Devils finished third in the team race with a score of 258.

Delta's Panthers, behind KC Carlson's 81, which was fourth in the medalist race, finished with a 287 to place eighth in the 18-hole tournament. Rowyn Carmichael had the second-best round for Delta with his 91 and was followed by Joe Bules' 115. Atley Harris finished with a 117 and Ryan Cooper carded a 122.
