A six-run first inning more than set the tone for the rest of the game as Cedaredge rambled past Gunnison's Cowboys by a score of 12-2 in prep softball action during Homecoming week.
The Bruins, 6-1 and 9-4, jumped on Gunnison, 2-4 and 2-11, for six runs and added another four-spot in the third frame for a 10-0 lead heading to the fourth inning.
Cedaredge plated two more runs for a 12-0 lead as the game entered the fifth inning. Gunnison collected a timely hit from Maddie Redden for one RBI and Violet Fry accounted for the Cowboys' final run ending the game by way of the 10-run rule, 12-2.
Lacey Rodriguez picked up her second win against two losses for the Bruins. She went five innings in the circle allowing three hits and two runs.
There were nine hits from Cedaredge batters with Rodriguez's three-for-three performance leading the way. Rodriguez scored once and knocked in two with help on a double and triple.
Senior Brittney Thliveris was 1-3 and three RBIs while teammates Josie Hiatt and Brittany Kendall recorded two RBIs apiece. Kendall also had a triple in the game for the Bruins.
