Cedaredge High School, the 3A WSL third-place team in volleyball, got by number five Gunnison in three straight sets on Saturday afternoon.
The Bruins were in control in the first set and cruised to a 25-18 win.
Game dynamics were different in the second set with Gunnison pushing the Bruins to the limit in a 28-26 decision for the Bruins.
Set three saw Cedaredge regain control as it was able to handle the Cowboys, 25-19, and claim the match win, 3-0.
Hannah Gilmore paced the Bruins' attack with seven kills and teammate Hailey Henrie was close behind with six.
Gilmore added three blocks and six digs to her stats in the win.
Makayla McKinney had three aces and shared the assists statistic with Mikayla Underwood with seven assists each.
Courtney Freeman had eight digs and Jade Gummo another five to account for the top numbers in statistics in the match.
Cedaredge continued a tough week with a match against number two Coal Ridge on Tuesday and then will prepare for 2A District 5 leader Paonia (5-0 and 8-1) on Friday at 5 p.m.
The Bruins have one more match to play on Saturday with Basalt bringing teams for play at 11 a.m., 12 and 1 p.m.
