Bruins win a pair on softball diamond

Cedaredge's Bruins won two softball games last week; one against Meeker, 15-14, and the second was a 15-4 decision over Palisade's Bulldogs.

Against Meeker, the Bruins were outhit 19-10 but managed to get the winning run in the seventh inning.

After scoring three runs in the first inning the Bruins needed an eight-run sixth to get the lead at 14-13. Each team scored once in the seventh giving Cedaredge the 15-14 win.

Shayna Dale had three hits, including two doubles and three RBIs to lead the Bruins' offense. Brittany Kendall scored twice and had two RBIs with Josie Hiatt hitting a double that was good for two more RBIs. Lacey Rodriguez and Kelsey Stroud had an RBI each and Brittney Thliveris had two hits and scored twice for the Bruins.

Against 4A Palisade, the Bruins wasted little time in establishing who was in control in this game.

Cedaredge scored five runs in the first and another three in the second frame for an 8-0 lead.

The Bulldogs trailed 10-4 heading to the fifth inning. Cedaredge had the bats going and plated another five runs in the fifth for a 15-4 lead. Palisade failed to score in its half of the inning and the game ended via the 10-run rule.

Hiatt was Cedaredge's leading batter with a four-RBI day which included three doubles. Kambry Hall was close behind with three RBIs and a double.
