The Center for Mental Health is pleased to announce that it has opened its newly renovated and expanded space in its building in Delta to include a partnership with River Valley Family Health Center to offer complete health care including mental health, substance abuse services, primary care and dental services. Although final touches are still being made to the building, the offering of expanded services began on Sept. 25.

The demand for mental health and substance abuse services in Delta County has increased nearly 38 percent in the last three years. With that demand, along with the knowledge that nearly half of the center's clients do not currently have a primary care provider, the center recognized the opportunity to expand health care. In addition, nearly 46 percent of all Delta County residents do not regularly seek dental care because of cost. Through a partnership with River Valley Family Health Center, the center is now able to offer that comprehensive care to those who need it.

All types of insurance are accepted including Medicaid and Medicare and a sliding fee scale is offered for those without insurance. This makes complete care affordable for all.

"Patients pay what they can afford, based on their income," said Janey Sorensen, marketing director for the Center for Mental Health. "We will not turn anyone away."

The project began with a remodel of the center's current facility at 107 West 11th Street in Delta. Through a grant from the Colorado Department of Local Affairs for $600,000 sponsored by the City of Delta and a foundation grant from the Colorado Health Foundation for $214,000, the remodel of an unused 6,176 square feet of the existing building was possible. The remodel created a modern, comfortable and convenient location for the delivery of complete health care.

The partnership called "Complete. Connected. Care." brings together two agencies with the single vision of improving total health care to Delta County and beyond. The expanded clinic is accepting new patients seeking one, two or all medical offerings. So, if someone needs dental care, but not primary or mental health care, they are welcome at the clinic and the same is true for primary care and mental health care. If someone needs multiple types of services, they can get them all in one location by a caring team of professionals.

"We're very excited about offering a complete care plan for our patients, but want to assure our patients they can keep their primary care provider if they like, and still access dental or behavioral care," said Jeremy Carroll, CEO of River Valley Family Health Center.

Dental services are provided by Dr. Kevin Dawson, dental assistant Emily Bryant and dental hygienist Liz Reed. They offer general dental services as well as crowns, dentures, extractions, root canal therapy and gum treatment. Appointments are available Tuesday-Friday.

Josh Enevoldson, physician assistant, provides primary care services Monday-Thursday, 8-6.

"Over 20 percent of our patients live in Delta and the North Fork area," said Carroll, speaking of River Valley's primary location in Olathe. "It's long been a part of our strategic plan to open a site in Delta."

Likewise, the Center for Mental Health has seen the need for more services for the residents of Delta County.

"Both of us strongly believe in integrated care -- taking care of the whole body, and now dental as well," Carroll said. "We don't care whether you're here for behavioral, dental or primary care, we're here to offer a whole gamut of services."

The clinic is located at 107 W. 11th in Delta and can be reached by calling 874-8981.
