The Hotchkiss Bulldogs had no opening- game butterflies during Zero Week last Friday, going on a seven hour road trip to Ignacio and winning 43-0.
"It was a nice game for everybody," Bulldogs coach Mike Sirko said. "Sometimes that happens."
Sirko said the Bulldogs power running game moved the ball pretty well.
Junior tailback Wade Katzdorn finished with over 250 rushing yards in the big win.
Hotchkiss kicks off at home for the first time this year on Friday night at 7 p.m.
The Bulldogs face the visiting 2A Olathe Pirates.
"I know that they're a much better football team than they were last year," Sirko said. "But I think we are too. It should be a heckuva game at our place."
On Dec. 4 Delta County Commissioners Doug Atchley, Mark Roeber and Don Suppes denied the application of Paonia Holdings, LLC for a change of land use for the property at 41322 Highway 133, with an adjacent residence at 41402 Highway 133 and an ancillary property at 16180 Stevens Gulch Road.
The property is owned by Bowie Resources, LLC, and was formerly used as a coal load-out site.
