Bulldogs win Norwood wrestling tournament

Hotchkiss wrestlers scored 136 points to win the Norwood Maverick Wrestling Tournament Saturday. Host school, Norwood scored 103.5 points to finish second at the seven-team tournament.
The Bulldogs placed wrestlers at 10 weights. At 113 pounds, freshman Robert Cochran won three matches by fall. In the championship match, Cochran upset ninth-ranked Harley Workman from Norwood in a 4-1 tiebreaker.
Jace Peebles (145) and Devin Curtis (195) won their respective division, winning all three matches by fall.
JD Miller (120), Presley Pene (126), Traycer Hall (132), Kylar Massano (138), and Jake Lange (160) all took silver in tournament action.
At 126, Adam Smith was 2-2 to place fifth, and at 145, Kaleb Lovelace finished sixth. Pene, who is ranked ninth in state, lost, 3-1, in sudden victory against seventh-ranked Hunter Wilson of Norwood. Hall, who is ranked eighth, lost by major decision to ninth-ranked Tad Sickles of Nucla.
