Robert Boyd "Butch" Showman died at his home in Grand Junction on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2015. He was 70.
A graveside funeral service was held Friday, Oct. 3, at Norwood Cemetery.
He was born in Telluride Feb. 23, 1945, to Robert L. and Ardith (Buss) Showman. He grew up in the Norwood area, graduating from Norwood High School in 1963. He attended Colorado State University in Fort Collins before serving in the U.S. Air Force.
Mr. Showman married Joanne E. Jacobs on Sept. 18, 1971, at Redvale.
He was a licensed pilot and enjoyed science, airplanes and astronomy.
He is survived by his wife, Joanne Showman of Grand Junction; his sons, Brian Showman of Colorado Springs and Robert Showman and Carl Showman, both of Grand Junction; two brothers, Jerry Heldman of Norwood and Kenny Heldman of Nucla; two sisters, Daphna Ryan of Norwood and Donna Malone of Wiley; two grandchildren; a stepgrandchild; and his in-laws, Lance and Barbara Earley of Delta.

At about 9:50 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, officers of the Delta Police Department were dispatched to a robbery reported at Arby's, located at 107 Gunnison River Drive. An extensive search of the area was conducted and the suspect was not located.
The suspect was reported to have walked into Arby's and after a brief conversation with an employee, was able to leave the store with a small amount of cash and coins.
