Recently there have been many layoffs in the coal mines and other places. Living with an already high cost of living, this puts many families in dire stress. When you can't pay rent or mortgages, you have to find someplace for your family to live. For many this means going to parents or other family members. If they have a big enough house, that's great, but if not, a camper will help. What about an elderly person who can't keep up on a house or yard and has little money? A camper trailer is great for them to be able to put on family's property. What about a person with little or no income who's physically disabled? Campers can really be a blessing.
Here in Delta you can't stay in one but for a very short time. I feel this needs to be changed. Let's help people who need help! I ask the mayor, city manager and city council to change this ordinance. I have lived in many towns in Colorado that let people live in campers on privately-owned land (like parents' land or other family members) and this has never been a problem to anyone.
