Wes, as he liked to be called, went to be with our Lord on Aug. 19, 2015, at the HopeWest Hospice Care Center in Grand Junction. He was 83.
Wes was born on July 1, 1932, to Levi and Pearl Moody in Chillicothe, Mo. He lived most of his younger years in Unionville, Mo.
He joined the Air Force as soon as he could and completed a successful tour of duty. He also worked full time for the Colorado Air National Guard for several years. He retired from Delta Airlines in 1987.
Wes loved auto racing and raced stock cars for years. He also raced sports cars in the SSA class in SCCA, winning district championships in 1981 and 1983. After racing, he became active in classic car activities and clubs.
Wes had another lifetime love. He loved animals and always had a dog or kitty as a best buddy.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carol; a daughter, Jaci Peterson; a grandson, Alex Peterson; four brothers; one sister; and one sister-in-law.

A graveside service was held Aug. 26 at Fairmount Cemetery in Denver.
On Dec. 4 Delta County Commissioners Doug Atchley, Mark Roeber and Don Suppes denied the application of Paonia Holdings, LLC for a change of land use for the property at 41322 Highway 133, with an adjacent residence at 41402 Highway 133 and an ancillary property at 16180 Stevens Gulch Road.
The property is owned by Bowie Resources, LLC, and was formerly used as a coal load-out site.
