Caroline "Carrie" Panter died Nov. 7, 2016. She was 94.
She was born in Burns May 22, 1922, to Charles and Ella Albertson. She spent her childhood on the family ranch in Burns. She attended a one-room school until the eighth grade, when she boarded in Gypsum for high school.
She married Ralph Panter in Burns. They ranched in Collbran, Walden, Kremmling, Hartsell and Raton, N.M. They later followed construction jobs from Colorado to Alaska and back. After their four children were mostly grown they went back to ranching, working side by side until they retired in 1996 and moved to Delta. Ralph died in 2007. In 2014, Mrs. Panter moved to Mesa Manor Nursing Home in Grand Junction.
She is survived by her children, Sue (Gary) Satterthwaite of New Town, N.D., Tom (Kathleen) Panter of Whitewater, Jim (Ann) Panter of Pennsauken, N.J. and Jane Panter of Grand Junction; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and extended family.
She was preceded in death by four brothers and sisters and her husband, Ralph.
A funeral service is scheduled at Taylor Funeral Service Chapel Nov. 10 at 2 p.m. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Mesa View Cemetery.
