Carroll Locke

Carroll Locke died Sept. 26, 2016. He was 62.

Carroll Elden Locke was born in La Junta March 26, 1954, to Ned and Lenora (Wilhelm) Locke. When he was young, his family moved to Cedaredge and then to Delta. He attended school in Cedaredge and Delta.

He joined the U.S. Army in 1971. He was stationed in Montana and served overseas in Okinawa. After being honorably discharged from the Army, he joined the Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1977.

Mr. Locke married Donna Smith on March 20, 1982, in Thornton.

He was self-employed. He lived in Belton, Texas, and spent summers in Colorado at his homes in Cotopaxi and on Redlands Mesa. He was looking forward to retirement when he could move back to Colorado permanently.

Mr. Locke had visited all 50 states and Mexico. He enjoyed coaching, baseball, football, being outdoors, fishing, golf, music, singing, working with his hands and spending time with his children.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Donna; two sons, Jeremy Smith and Jared (Stacie) Locke; his siblings, Coeta (John) Hassell, Clarence (Dottie) Locke and Connie (Fermin) Maestas; and four grandchildren, Wren, Jacob, Mariah and Aidan.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Cecil Locke; his daughter, Amanda "Mandy" Locke; and his parents.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, at Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Delta. Inurnment will follow at Cedaredge Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
