Catherine Goumas Nash

Catherine Goumas Nash died July 31, 2016. She was 92.

She was born in Camden, N.J., on Oct. 24, 1923, to Christos and Ada (Bacon) Goumas. She spent much of her early childhood in Atlantic City before moving to Philadelphia, Pa.

She graduated from Philadelphia Adventist Academy in Philadelphia. She then attended Washington Missionary College in Silver Springs, Md., where she met her husband, Melvin Nash. They were married on March 24, 1946, in Philadelphia.

The Nashes moved to Cottonwood, Ariz., after they were married and then to Hay Springs, Neb. They made Cedaredge their permanent home in April 1951.

Mrs. Nash is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Melvin Nash, who died on March 30, 2003; her son, Melvin Nash Jr.; her twin sister, Helen Goumas, who was hit and killed by a car when she was 3; her older sister, Ada Schoel; and a brother, David Goumas.

She is survived by three daughters, Barbara (Dennis) Parrott of Brighton, Mary (Gary) Henry of Castle Rock, and Kathryn (Dan) Ward of Colorado Springs; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held Aug. 19 at the Cedaredge Seventh-day Adventist Church.
