Cedaredge's Bruins hosted the 1A/2A San Juan Basin (SJB) League's top team on Saturday, Oct. 14. Nucla's Mustangs knocked off Ridgway, which was unbeaten at the time, to take over the top spot in the 2A SJB league and wanted to keep a lead over the Demons with a win in Cedaredge.

Nucla is 14-1 overall and Ridgway is 14-2. The Mustangs are 8-0 in league play and Ridgway is 10-1.

Cedaredge was tough from the start of Saturday's match and kept the score close all the way in set one. Nucla managed to put a win in its column with a 27-25 decision in the first set.

The pressure did not lessen in set two as the two teams duplicated the first set's score with the same results, Nucla winning 27-25.

There wasn't much letdown in either team in set three with Nucla hanging on to win the set, and match, with a 25-22 score.

Cedaredge travels to Carbondale for a meeting against the league's No. 5 team, Roaring Fork on Oct. 20. The Bruins travel to Craig for Saturday's match against Moffat County.
