Cedaredge High School boys' basketball team is currently fifth in 2A/1A WSL standings. A loss, 61-33, in Basalt and a win, 62-56, at Meeker, has the Bruins showing a 6-1 league mark and 9-5 overall.

Basalt 61, Bruins 33

Cedaredge struggled with its offense in the first and third periods, consequently putting up just nine points in the two frames.

Basalt opened the game with an 18-3 first quarter, and after halftime, followed with a 15-7 third quarter. The Bruins were down by 24 points in those two quarters alone.

Cedaredge rallied for 14 points in the second quarter to salvage a 27-17 deficit at the break.

The Longhorns' offense took control of the game in the third period with 15 points while its defense limited the Bruins to just six points.

Basalt finished the game with a 19-point effort in the fourth quarter to make the final score 61-33.

Bruins 62, Meeker 56

The key to a victory in Meeker was a 19-5 run to start the game. The Cowboys trimmed that lead by eight points in the second quarter and trailed, 30-24, at halftime.

The Bruins regained some of their momentum back in the third period with a 16-point effort but were not able to pull too much further ahead as the Cowboys scored 13 points of their own over the same time span.

Meeker stole the momentum away from the Bruins early in the final stanza and tied the game at 49-49 with nearly three minutes to go in the game.

The game was tied at 51-51 with about two minutes to go.

With a minute to go, Cedaredge held a slim, 55-54, lead and managed to stretch that lead to 58-56 with less than a minute to go.
