The Cedaredge girls scored 56 points to place fifth Saturday at the Delta Panther Invitational.
Freshman Brie McGovern placed fourth in the 400m dash, and sophomore Emily Tullis placed third in the 100-meter hurdles and was fifth in the 300 hurdles. The 4x800 relay team won silver with a time of 1:10.19, and the 800 sprint medley team won bronze.
Defending state champion shot putter Katie Hyke finished third with a throw of 33-4.5, and finished third in the discus with a throw of 99 feet, 9 inches. Junior Grace Andrews placed fourth in the shot with a throw of 32-09.25 and finished seventh in the discus.
The Bruins placed third at state last season.
Among returning state qualifiers are Shayna Dale (4x100, 4x200, 200m, long jump). Dale is also the last remaining member of the 2015 2A state meet record holding 800m relay team.
Senior Kenna Signs was a member of the 3200m relay team. Junior returning state qualifiers include Hannah Hatheway (800m, 1600m relay, 3200m relay, 800m sprint medley), Megan Huggett (1600m relay, 3200m relay). Andrews also competed at state in the shot put.
Sophomores with state experience include Tullis (300m hurdles, 800m sprint medley), Nicole Miller (300m hurdles, 800m sprint medley), and Camie Baldozier (1600m relay, 3200m relay).
Holly Jenkins, Jayden Miller and Huggett round out the junior class. Sophomores include Briar Wagner, Kylee Hanson, Dalia Alejandre and Darrian Bulbulian; and freshmen are Grace Hatheway, Reganne McIntire, Summer Young, Violet Gonzalez, Makayla Kehmeier, Kaitlyn Toothaker and Hannah Carlson.
The Cedaredge Invitational meet is scheduled for April 1, and the Bruin Invitational, traditionally the final qualifying meet ahead of state competition, will be held May 13.
