Under favorable skies last Friday night, Cedaredge High School rolled up 262 total yards on its way to a convincing 41-16 1A WSL win over the Cowboys in Gunnison.

Seniors Pedro Madaleno and Ty Grant ran for 51 and 50 yards respectively as Cedaredge compiled 208 yards on the ground. Madaleno accounted for one rushing touchdown with teammates Ryan Imhoff and Jared Reynolds running for one each. Madaleno picked up a second score on a pass reception from quarterback Reynolds and Drew Markley added a touchdown on an interception.

Freshman kicker Brody Wagner booted two of three extra points and added a 26-yard field goal to account for five of the Bruins' 41 points.

Baylee Piper led Cedaredge's defense with five tackles and Joshua Jenkins was in on four tackles. Six other Bruins recoreded three tackles in the win.

Austin Crawford had two sacks and Madaleno another while Markley pilfered two passes and Dylon Gartman swiped another errant aerial.

Gunnison's offensive presence was through the air with junior Dante Marchitelli throwing the ball 28 times and completing 13 of his throws for two touchdowns.

Cedaredge's defense held the Cowboys rushing game to minus 13 yards on 10 attempts.

The Bruins are currently tied with Grand Valley and Olathe with 2-2 records in 1A WSL standings. Meeker leads the team race with a 4-0 record followed by Paonia's 3-1 record and Hotchkiss' 2-1 mark.

Cedaredge will visit Paonia this Friday night for a 7 p.m. meeting with the Eagles.
