Darnell Place-Wise, executive director of the Delta Area Chamber of Commerce, has resigned her position effective Tuesday, May 15.
She supplied a copy of her resignation letter, which states in part, "There are many contributing factors in my decision, but primarily, my family. I am absolutely spent, as the chamber is absolutely all consuming."
She added that her daughter will be starting high school in the fall and she would like to be more available than she's been the past two.
"I appreciate the opportunity to help turn the Delta Area Chamber of Commerce around and well in the black, financially. I appreciate the opportunity to bring so many new chamber members onboard. I appreciate being able to contribute to our community in such a positive way. I appreciate being able to work with like minded individuals who, at the very heart of who you are, want nothing but the very best for this beautiful community that we live in."
The chamber will be advertising the job opportunity.
On Tuesday, Sept. 11, the Delta County Board of Commissioners called a special meeting to consider the board's response to the Bureau of Land Management's preliminary Environmental Assessment (EA) concerning the lease parcels proposed for the December BLM sale.
Several people from the North Fork were present to provide input.
