Jessica Medrano recently joined the Cedaredge Area Chamber of Commerce as an individual supporter member, and has also joined the ambassadors team, a group of chamber members whose goal is to create vibrant events and assist with business enhancement efforts.
That goal was the driving force behind Jessica's decision to join the chamber and the ambassadors team, she said. "For a long time my husband and I looked for the 'perfect place' to raise our family," she said. "We looked around for a bit but soon realized that Cedaredge was that perfect place we were looking for." But, as the mother of three young children, Jessica said she wanted to be more active in creating a more cohesive community, one where there are events to keep young families like hers in town. "We want our children to grow up with great memories of this community," she said, and she hopes to foster a greater sense of community togetherness through her role as an ambassador. She said the First Friday Art Walks and the Party in the Park (this year on Saturday, Aug. 26, at 5 p.m.) are some of her favorite community events. "We really feel the sense of a close knit community at those events," she said.
She has already jumped into ambassadors work, and has some great ideas on bringing a Halloween Trick or Treat Trail event to the community, as well as other special events throughout the year.
"The face of the chamber in our community is our ambassador team," said Nick Streza, co-owner of DeerCreek Village Realty and the chamber's board president. "The work the ambassadors do to create new, exciting events and to enhance the business community is invaluable to the chamber board and staff." Streza added that while the main focus of the Cedaredge Area Chamber of Commerce is to build partnerships with area businesses in order to support and grow a healthy economy, events are an important part of a community fabric. "Events bring vitality to an area, and while the chamber's focus is working towards better business enhancement for our members, we understand the importance of a great community celebration, and we know Jessica's work in this respect will be amazing."
"We're really excited to welcome Jessica to the team," said Trey Gronenthal, owner of Reve Portraits and the chair of the ambassadors team. "She will bring fresh ideas, enthusiasm and vitality to the group, and we're looking forward to improving the events the chamber already sponsors, and adding some fun, new exciting events with her help."
"I'm really looking forward to meeting more of the business community and working with the chamber to improve our community," Jessica said. "I'd also invite those businesses that aren't chamber members to look into the benefits of joining, and to make an investment in our community with their membership."
Jessica and her husband Anthony live in Cedaredge with their three children, Gracelynn, 6, Zoe, 4, and Easton, 3. The couple were high school sweethearts; they graduated from Cedaredge High School in 2010. Anthony is one of the kitchen managers and chefs at the Cedaredge CreekSide Café, which is also a member of the Cedaredge chamber. You can look for Jessica around town in connection with chamber-sponsored events and business networking gatherings, as well as in her children's schools. She is the first grade parent leader at Cedaredge Elementary School and a soccer coach for Surface Creek Soccer.
